COURTNEY LOVE Reveals More Than Expected During MTV2 Appearance
September 23, 2002The following article appeared in yesterday's edition of the New York Post:
MTV's ongoing social experimentation on the nation's youth continued last night as Courtney Love kicked off MTV2's 24 Hours of Love — wearing exactly what she wore the night before at a Fashion Week after-party at Lotus.
But Love, who was set to broadcast non-stop through the night until 8 p.m. today, didn't keep the short-sleeved bohemian top and tiny jean skirt on for long. She changed clothes after nearly every commercial or video break in the first few hours.
She made one bad couture call at around 10:30 p.m., however, by choosing a loose, black tank top that allowed her right breast to fall out into full view on live cable television.
But she made little note of it, pushing the wayward bosom right back in. Later, however, Love's lumps made another appearance when she flashed some girls who were standing just off camera.
She spent much of her time picking songs to play. Her play included many female bands and followed MTV2's playlist, what was grittier than its older brother, MTV.
"We're trying to tell the story of girls for the next 24 hours," said Love, early in the show. Hijinks abounded on the set, which looked like a cross between a SoHo lounge bar and a low-budget sheik's harem bedroom.
Back stage, Love complained that she was being censored.
"They don't want me to curse, they don't want me to talk about drugs, they don't want me to talk about sex," she said before flashing camera.
